DEO B’la Reviews Panchayat Poll Arrangements

BARAMULLA, NOVEMBER 14: District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash today chaired a meeting here at Dak Bungalow to review the arrangements put in place for the smooth and fair conduct of Panchayat Polls scheduled from November 17 in various phases.

On the occasion, a thorough discussion with regard to the necessary arrangements including deployment of poll staff, transportation of polling material, heating and lighting arrangements, security arrangements at the polling stations and other requisite arrangements was held wherein the concerned authorities briefed the chair about various measures taken for its smooth conduct.

Emphasizing upon the officers for maintaining close coordination, the DEO stressed for working with added synergy and enthusiasm so that elections are conducted in free and fair manner. He directed for the deployment of polling staff and material well in advance at the respective polling stations adding that such an exercise will help in conducting the polls in a hassle free manner.

The DEO stressed for ensuring special arrangements to deal with any kind of eventuality that may arise due to snowfall in view of inclement weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the DEO said that in district Baramulla, polling in 5 blocks have been scheduled in Phase-I in which 138 candidates for 52 sarpanch halqas and 420 candidates for 199 panch halqas are in the fray. He said that 427 polling stations have been established wherein about 70843 eligible voters can cast their votes.

ADC Farooq Ahmad Baba, ADC Sopore Ashiq Hussain Lilly, Observer M. Haneef Balkhi, District Panchayat Officer, ROs, AEROs, and various other concerned were present on the occasion.
