Speaker reviews status of Legislature Complex, renovation of MLA hostels

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 13: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Dr Nirmal Singh today chaired a meeting to discuss upgradation and renovation of MLA hostels and progress on New Legislature Complex, Jammu.

Principal Secretary Planning Development Department, Rohit Kansal and Commissioner Secretary Estates Department, Khurshid Ahmed Shah were present on the occasion.

The Speaker said MLA hostels, both in Jammu and Srinagar, are in very dilapidated conditions and need immediate upgradation and renovation. He said that the Legislators also raised the issues in this regard from time to time.

It was said that a proposal in this regard has already been prepared and submitted to the concerned quarter and the hostels would be developed on modern lines soon.

The Speaker asked the concerned authorities to do all the groundwork so that the work on the hostels could be initiated as early as possible. He also called for judicious use of funds

The Speaker also stressed upon the concerned authorities to accelerate the ongoing construction works of New Legislative Assembly Complex, Jammu so that the projects would be completed on time.

The concerned authorities assured the Speaker that all the issues highlighted in the meeting would be taken care of so that the better accommodation facilities are provided to the Legislators in both the hostels.

Among others, Secretary Legislative Assembly Rattan Lal Sharma, Additional Secretary Assembly Naseem Jan, Deputy Director Estates Jammu Mohammad Alyas Khan, besides other senior officers of Planning, R&B, Estates departments and JKPCC attended the meeting.
