Bandipora, Nov 12: The Legal Metrology department on Monday imposed fine on a private school and a book-seller in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An official said that LMD imposed a fine of Rs 25000 on a private school in Inderkote locality of Sumbal for selling books inside its premises.
He said that a joint team of Legal Metrology and Food Safety conducted inspections of various schools and booksellers in Sumbal sub-division of Bandipora.
“During inspection the team found Greenland Public School Inderkoot, Sumbal was involved in selling of textbooks in the school. The books were being supplied by SS Stationery of Inderkoot,” he said.
“A case was registered against Green Valley School, Naidkhai Sumbal.”
He said that the team also imposed a fine of Rs 6000 on Modern Book Depot Bori Kadal for selling textbooks at exorbitant rates.
