Budgam, Nov 08: The inhabitants of Khansahib villages here are up in arms against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide power supply in their area from past nine days.

Villagers told Kashmir Images that hundreds of households belonging to Sitharan, Chill, Brass, Zoogu, Kharien, Ringazabal, Khaipora, Drang, Lasiora, Kangripora and Hamkhal villages have no electricity.

They said that power supply went off before two days of the recent snowfall. “But after that we didn’t get electricity even for a minute,” said Tariq Ahmad, a resident of Sitharan.

Bilal Mohiudeen, a local said that in absence of power supply, people are facing biggest inconveniences.

“Exams of various classes are going but students of our area have no alternate to study in candle light. Even our mobile phones are switched off.”

The villagers added that many people are now utilizing solar energy to charge their mobile phones. However, they said,” Every household can’t procure solar system as most of them are poor.”

When contacted Executive Engineer PDD Budgam, Nasrullah Jan said, “We have restored electricity in Khansahib villages.”
