DDC Kupwara chairs public darbars in Lolab

KUPWARA, NOVEMBER 07: In order to take a first-hand appraisal of various amenities available to people, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today visited Lalpora and Kuligam areas of Lolab and chaired a public darbar there.

During the darbar, residents of Lalpora and Kuligam highlighted the issues pertaining to drinking water, electricity, repair and renovation of roads, irrigation facilities for the agriculture sector, removal of illegal encroachment on Kacharie/State land, improvement of HT/ LT network.

Lalpora delegation demanded adequate staff for NTPHC, operationalizing X-Ray plant, dental chair for the concerned section, Gynecologist, ambulance, Central heating system for PHC, drainage system for PMGSY roads, operationalizing Receiving Station Krusen, 350 MW transformer for Krusen receiving Station and streamlining distribution of electric poles.

Besides deputations also highlighted the need for Superintendent for  ITI, adequate staff and full-time Tehsildar for Tehsil office, adequate infrastructure for Boys HSS Lalpora and introduction of History, Commerce and Islamic Studies combination, up-gradation of Girls Middle School, implementation of rates fixed by Transport Commissioner in letter and spirit.

Concession in bus fare for students as already fixed and proper transport facilities through SRTC  for easy and timely conveyance, coaching centre for mentoring students during preparations for competitive exams and other developmental issues.

On the occasion, DDC gave a patient hearing to the deputations and assured them to look into the projected demands.

DDC directed PDD authorities to mobilise men and machinery for redressing the grievances of the people on priority. He also ensured upgradation, repair and renovation of power infrastructure within the stipulated time period.

He assured that adequate staff and infrastructure facilities for ITI, HSS will be provided.

DDC instructed BDO Lalpora for demarcation of land and initiating the process of developing play ground with next ten days. He further directed him for clearing claims under MRNREGA after proper scrutiny. He assured that demands like firewood and community toilets will be provided and relocation of Police Station will be taken up with concerned.

While chairing a public darbar at Kuligam, people highlighted the need for PHC, playground, safe and clean drinking water, macdamisation of roads, renovation, up-gradation and adequate staff for health sub-centre, renovation and fencing of Government Middle School, FCS&CA godown, receiving station, and ATM facility.

DDC assured that all the issues and demands highlighted by the people of Kuligam will be considered on priority.

He said that Shalgund- Kuligam water supply scheme has been approved and work shall begin as early as possible. He further said that Health Sub-Centre will be upgraded till 20th December and provided with adequate staff. He assured people that funds for the renovation of Middle School will be made available and directed BDO for fencing of the school.   He assured that ATM will be installed as demanded by the people. He directed Block Development Officer for identifying and demarcating land so that playfield is ready for use by the sportspersons within the next two months.

Meanwhile, DDC suggested coordination and cooperation between people and district administration towards improving the standard of life of the people of Lolab.
