Sopore, Oct 29: Scores of people on Monday staged a protest here in Sopore town over the non-availability of drinking water facility in the area.
Witnesses said, scores of the residents gathered on Sopore-Baramulla bypass road at Green town outskirt of Sopore this morning and blocked the traffic movement on the road.
Protesting residents alleged that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water since last one month. We have raised the issue with the PHE department several times but they have failed to resolve our genuine grievance.
Meanwhile, when contacted a senior officer of the PHE department he said that department will look into the matter. “We will be sending water tankers in the area so that the water crisis is resolved,” he added.
