ERO Ganderbal reviews special summary revision of electoral rolls 2018-19

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 29: Electoral Roll Observer (ERO) Ganderbal and Secretary Social Welfare Department Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today chaired a meeting here at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal to review special summary revision of electoral rolls 2018-19 in district.

The meeting was attended by District Election Officer (DEO), Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla, ADDC Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ganderbal, Nodal officers, Tehsildars besides other officers of the district.

The DEO informed the Electoral Roll Observer (ERO) that all EROs and AEROs are in place in the district as per the ECI notification besides all 235 BLOs registered as voters in the concerned Polling Station are local and only one BLO has been appointed for each Polling Station as per ECI guidelines.

While enquiring regarding training to ERO/AROs/BLOs, he was informed that training is already imparted to EROs/AEROs by the SLMTs organized by the CEO J&K and separate training programmes were conducted at Tehsil Levels and all BLOs are trained by Master Trainers.

While reviewing the percentage of inclusions in the roll, the DEO informed him that necessary action has been taken by AEROs and they have geared up BLOs for house to house visit and sufficient numbers of forms were distributed by them.

The District Election Officer informed the Observer about the details of epic coverage completed so far. He informed the meeting that the total voters of the district are 1,70,885 and the EPIC percentage  has touched to 98.49%.

It was given out that draft roll is published after integrating their supplements and is available on the website of the CEO J&K and the copy of PER of the entire district is published in the notice board of the concerned EROs failing in the district besides sufficient number of the relevant forms required for the summary revision of electoral rolls have been kept available in the offices of DEO, ERO, AERO, BLO and at polling station level.

It was given out that total objections and Claims received during special summary Revision of Electoral rolls were 3248 under Form 6, 1542 under Form 7, 545 under form 8 and 125 under form 8A.It was also said that quick checks are done periodically at AERO and ERO level regarding abnormal additions and rejections as per the ECI guidelines.

On the occasion, the ERO urged to carry every necessary step for enrolment of eligible person as electors and generate awareness through camps and events at tehsil levels among new and young voters about voting and voting rights.

He impressed upon the EROs and AERO’S to monitor the progress of enrolments in order that all eligible electors are registered in the Electoral Rolls. The ERO called for enhanced efforts for improving the cover at the earliest.
