Commissioner Food Safety inaugurates training programme for Bakers

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 29: Commissioner Food Safety J&K Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar today inaugurated one-day ‘Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTAC) programme, organised by Bakers Association.

The aim of the training programme was to create awareness among Bakers about food safety regulations and policies. The training is mandatory of all Central and State Licensed FBOs under the FSS Act.

During the training, Bakers Association was asked by experts to maintain good hygienic and sanitary practices, get all the food handlers medically examined after every six months for ruling out any contagious or communicable disease. On the occasion the Association members were asked to cooperate with the department in its endeavour to make available safe, wholesome and hygienic food to the consumers.

During the programme the particpants were also sensitized about the different provisions of FSS Act through PowerPoint Presentation and discussions for strict compliance of the same and future plans of the department with regard to the Food Safety Training & Certification (FoSTaC).

The Association apprised the Commissioner about the problems they are facing and urged him to establish a separate Bakers park as has been established in Khanmoh.

On the occasion, officers from Food Safety organisations and other department were also present.
