Ichgam (Budgam), Oct 29: The villagers of Ichgam here were warned by army during a night raid not to pelt stones on government forces.

Sources said the night raid was conducted soon after some “unknown persons” hurled stones at forces’ vehicles in the Ichgam area.

According to residents of Ichgam, army personnel barged inside few houses in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. “It was about 1 am, army men entered our houses and warned us that we should be ready to face the music if their vehicles were pelted with stones again,” they said.

They added that army vehicles were pelted with stones on Saturday evening, when they got stuck in traffic jam on a link road here as the main Budgam-Khansahib road remains disconnected due to construction of culvert at Ichgam.

However, they said, “We don’t know who hurled stones at army men.”

Meanwhile, when contacted a senior police official in Budgam he said that no night raid was conducted at Ichgam.

He also added that people have problems with traffic snarls and after the culvert is constructed, the problem will be over.

It is pertinent to mention that government forces in August this year allegedly went berserk in Ichgam by resorting to vandalism and thrashed civilians during a nocturnal raid
