According to a local news agency, Mubashir said he was attacked by more than seven students during late hours when he was sleeping with his roommates at his flat outside the college.

“A group of more than six persons barged inside, three were masked and all were carrying iron rods and knives with them, and they started beating me and hit my legs and arms with iron rods,” he said.

Mubashir said he was immediately taken to Suhana hospital, Mohali for treatment.

“Later, these students called me and said they had some misunderstanding and attacked me mistakenly,” he said. “But if it was misunderstanding then they should have given me a chance to speak to them before they attacked me.”

He said they have lodged a complaint at the local police station, but complained that the college authorities were not taking the issue “seriously.”

“We approached the college administration with the complaint but they gave a cold response,” Mubashir said, adding that they have been called by local police station regarding their complaint.
