SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 26: The Department of Labour & Employment Kashmir  organised an awareness camp on labour laws of the State at the Institution of Engineers J&K State Centre here.

Commissioner Secretary Labour & Employment, Saurabh Bhahat, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The aim of the camp was to facilitate and sensitise the participants including industrialists and officers of the department in regard to the labour laws applicable in the State.

The camp also saw launch of the online portal www.jklabour.com which provides information about labour laws of the State and different issues and concerns about labour in the State.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary said the Labour department is keen on effective implementation of labour laws in the State to ensure proper percolation of benefits to the beneficiaries.

The meeting was informed that digitisation of the Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) record of workers to streamline its timely release and ensure disposal of cases is well underway. It was informed that digitisation of about 2.5 lac of the total 4.3 lac beneficiaries in the State has been completed and that the entire process will be completed by the end of the current year.

It was also informed that the department has launched the Muhafiz Scheme in association with the J&K Bank which will allow workers registered with the J&K Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCWWB) to avail of micro-credit card facility enabling credits to the tune of 10000 rupees.

The department is also covering the uncovered shops under the Shops & Establishment Act in efforts to generate more revenue. The ACLs have been asked to dispose off all the cases at the earliest.

The programme is part of a series of awareness camps the department has scheduled to organise in different districts across the Kashmir division in efforts to create awareness about labour laws among all the concerned stakeholders.

Labour Commissioner Bashir Ahmad Khan and CEO J&K BOCWWB were also present on the occasion.
