Kulgam, October 27: Clashes erupted between the government forces and protesters in Kulgam district of South Kashmir after forces launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) here on Saturday.

Local reports said that Army, Police and CRPF here on today Launched Cordon and Search operation in Ghath Khudwani area of Kulgam district on a specific tip-off about the presence of militants in the area

Reports said that as soon as forces cordoned off the area, youth took to the streets and pelt stones on them, to disrupt the operation, triggering clashes.

Forces in retaliation fired teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators.

Clashes were going on in the area when this report was filed.
