Srinagar, October 25: Civil Society of Kashmir on Thursday held protest here demanding India to resolve Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.

The protest against alleged “genocide” of Kashmiri people was held under the banner Kashmir Centre for Social and Developmental Studies (KCSDS) in which people from different shades of life including writers, hoteliers, traders and academicians took part.

Carrying placards in their hands which read “India if you have made up your mind to annihilate us, better do it in one go and we demand end to genocide in Kashmir” the protesting members who had gathered at Press Enclave alleged that the government has started using chemical weaponry to carryout mass destruction in Kashmir.

They said on one hand India claims Kashmir as its integral part while on the other hand deadly military hardware is used to carry genocide of its own people.

Professor Hameeda Nayeem, Chairman KCSDS while condemning civilian killings said that India should either resolve the issue as per UN resolutions or kill Kashmiri people en-masse to control over this South-Asian region.

She also alleged that Kulgam incident in which seven civilians lost their lives and dozens others were injured was a well orchestrated plan.

She also criticizes the Governor’s statement that cinema halls will be reopened in the valley saying “Kashmir is the place where people’s rights are crushed through military might. I ask Governor to first stop killings in Kashmir and then talk about reopening cinema halls”
