Youth drowns to death in Kupwara

Srinagar, Oct 20: An 18-year old youth drowned while fishing in an irrigation pond at Chandigam area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.

Reports said that the youth Shaheen Ahmad Mir (18), son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Chandigam, Lolab was fishing with his friends when he slipped and drowned in the Irrigation storage tank known as ‘Mir Sar’ (pond) in the locality.

The friends and others tried to save him but he died on the spot, they said.

A police officer also confirmed the death of the youth and said that a case under section 174 CrPC has been registered and further investigations have been incident taken up.
