State Volleyball Championship to commence from next week in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 17: The 30th J&K State Junior Volleyball Championship for Boys and Girls being organised by Volleyball Association of J&K under the aegis of J&K J&K State Sports Council will commence from 22nd Oct at Polo Ground Srinagar.

In a handout issued to the press here, a publicity official of Volleyball Association of J&K said: “In this 3-day annual Mega event as many as 17 teams in boys section and 14 teams in Girls section i.e. Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Samba Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora and Leh drawn from various districts of J&K State have constituted to participate and display their latest techniques/skills of the game for clinching the State level championship.”

“According to Kuldip Magotra Chief Executive Officer Volleyball Association of J&K four Volleyball courts have been set up for the smooth conduct of the championship. Sixty matches shall be played under league cum knock out basis during the championships and about 400 players and officials are likely to participate in the 3-day championship,” reads the handout of Volleyball Association of J&K.

It said: “Muneer Aalam organising secretary has disclosed that elaborate arrangements of boarding/lodging of teams/officials in various hotels within vicinity of the venue of the championship have been made.”

“The State championship will conclude on 24-10-2018. During the championship selection of State Volleyball teams for boys and girls shall be made for their participation in the forth coming National Volleyball Championship which is scheduled to be held in Telangana State in near future,” it added.
