Baramulla Premier League inaugurated in Baramulla, Pangong XI and Blue Star Jetty lock horns

Baramulla: To provide an opportunity and platform to the youth of Baramulla and adjoining areas to hone their sports skills,  Baramulla Premier League (BPL) a T-20 cricket tournament, organised by Army organised 46 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (FORMIDABLE 46)  of Himalayan Brigade under the aegis of Dagger Division  was inaugurated on Wednesday at Prof Showket Ali Mir Stadium,

As part of its coordinated efforts to encourage the sporting culture and amalgamate the local youth with the mainstream, Baramulla Premier League was inaugurated by Major General GS Rawat, YSM, SM, GOC 19 Infantry Divison at Showkat Ali Stadium. Several prominent personalities from district and civil administration including senior officers were also present on the occasion, in addition to members of the Sports council and District Cricket Association. The first qualifying match was played between Pangong XI and Blue Star Jetty.

The annual sporting spectacle will be conducted over a period of 01 month engaging a crowd of about 2000 youths. The league is divided into five stages namely qualifying round, 1st knockout round, 2nd knockout round, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals. The league was instituted to promote the local talent and strengthen the bond with youth and develop the connection with people in north Kashmir’s Baramulla District.
