Principal Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring Department Rohit Kansal was also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the long term development strategies that can be devised to address developmental challenges and promote socio-economic development across all districts of the State.

Kant informed the Governor about a number of issues relating to the implementation of various State and Central Government welfare schemes in J&K and how these schemes could be tapped fully to avail benefits for the people of the state.

Governor highlighted the special concerns of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the context of the very large resource gap in funding the annual plans and the need for long-term planning for securing balanced growth and development of the State. In this context Governor lauded the role and support of NITI Aayog in various sectors and hoped that, in the obtaining environment in the State, all the schemes of the Aayog would be able to play a truly significant role in the overall development of the State.

Amitabh Kant also congratulated the Governor on the peaceful urban body elections held in the State.
