Srinagar, Oct 12: A complete shutdown is being observed across the Valley to mourn the death of a PhD scholar-turned-militant, Abdul Manan Wani.

Manan along with his associate was killed in an encounter at Shatgund Qalamabad in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik called for a complete shutdown today to pay tributes to Manan.

In view of shutdown, the authorities here imposed restrictions today to thwart any possible protest against the killing of Manan.

Reports said curfew-like-restrictions gave also been imposed in Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district- the home town of Dr Manan Wani.

Meanwhile, educational institutions in major parts of Kashmir Valley are closed

Besides, train services between Baramulla to Banihal are also suspended.

Authorities have also reduced the internet speed from allegedly 4G to 2G. (KNS)
