Div Com visits SIDCO Industrial area; takes stock of ongoing developmental projects

JAMMU OCTOBER 11: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today visited SIDCO Industrial area Bari Brahmana and took stock of several ongoing developmental projects here. He was accompanied by Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu Dr Ravi Shankar.

During his visit, the Div Com inspected the under-construction building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute.

He was informed that the Phase-1 of the project is coming up at a cost of Rs 50 cr. It was further informed that the constructed portion includes Administrative Block of EDI and shall be handed over to the department by end of October this year.

The Div Com also visited the recently renovated Government Joinery Mill and subsequently inspected the under-construction projects of Silk Filature and Silk factory.

He was briefed by the concerned functionaries that the shed of Silk Filature costing Rs 5.60 cr is ready. The order for purchase of machinery has also been placed and tentative schedule of commencement of production in the unit is by January 2019. A total of 30 machines have already been installed in the Silk factory costing Rs 16 cr.

The Div Com was informed that the silk projects would benefit cocoon growers of the state from Kathua to Rajouri belt as all the cocoon production in the state is attributed to this belt and 70% of the cocoon produced in the state is purchased by buyers from West Bengal and Karnataka in open auctions.

The Div Com directed the concerned executing agencies for the timely completion of the ongoing projects while maintaining the desired quality.
