Srinagar, Oct 10 : A special police officer (SPO) was injured seriously after fired upon by suspected militants at Kareemabad area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday late night.
Official sources said that the gunmen barged inside the residential house of the SPO Bilal Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Maqbool and fired upon him at Karimabad village at around 11:45 pm.
In the incident,Bilal suffered serious bullet wounds in his right leg and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where from he was referred to Bone and Joint hospital Barzulla, Srinagar,” they said.
“Bilal is presently posted at District Court Complex Pulwama as a gate keeper, ” they said.
SP Pulwama Chandran Kholi also confirmed the incident and said that the SPO was hospitilized and his condition is said to be stable.
Meanwhile, Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the suspected militants. (GNS)
