Advisor Vyas directs timely supply of essentials to Ladakh region

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 10: Advisor to the Governor B B Vyas Wednesday convened a meeting to review the stock and supply position of essentials for Ladakh region.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Transport, Dr Asgar Samoon, Commissioner Secretary PDD Hirdesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil, and other senior officers of various departments.

Chief Executive Councillors of Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

On the occasion, Advisor directed officers to ensure the supply of essentials and other related items to Ladakh region is completed in all respects within the shortest possible time in view of ensuing winter months.

Dulloo informed that there is a sufficient stock of lifesaving drugs in Leh and Kargil Districts. He said that 80 per cent of medicines and machinery demanded for winter stock has reached Leh and Kargil and the remaining would be dispatched soon.

Regarding supply and stock position of food grains, the Advisor was informed that adequate quantity of rice has been stored in Leh and Kargil districts and against the total demand of wheat, 80 per cent of it has also been stored in these districts. He was also informed that against the demand around 86 per cent of LPG and 80 per cent Kerosene oil stock has been stored in Leh and Kargil.

During the meeting, the Advisor was also briefed that against the demand of 4000 quintals of timber in Kargil, 35000 Qts have been dispatched to the area. In Leh, against the demand of 10,000 Qts of Timber, 6500 Qts have been dispatched and remaining timber would be supplied soon.

Commissioner Secretary Power informed the meeting that against the requirement of 45 electric transformers in Kargil, 38 have reached there and against the requirement of 4700 electric poles, 4100 have reached Kargil. Similarly, against the requirement of 10226 electric poles in Leh, 7800 have already been dispatched to the area. He said that the remaining will be dispatched soon.

About the stock and supply position of diesel and gas, the concerned officials informed that 80 per cent stock of the demand has been stored in the area and the remaining would be supplied shortly.

The meeting was also informed that the supply position in respect of various other commodities like cement, firewood, horticulture related things is also up to the mark and there is no dearth of these commodities.

Both the Chief Executive Councilors of Leh and Kargil districts expressed satisfaction over the stock and supply positions in their respective districts.
