Khelo-India: Pcc Phoro- XI defeats Quaziabad-XI, to face Pandithpora royals in final

KUPWARA, SEP 28: The cricket competition under Khelo-India which earlier took place at Langate and was organized by district administration Kupwara in collaboration with youth service and Sports concluded all its qualifying matches.

The two teams, Pandithpora Royals and PCC Phoru qualified for finals. The two teams will face each other at Shaheen sports playground Qaziabad.

In the semi-final, Pandithpora Royals defeated its rival Quaziabad-XI and Phoru-XI defeated Quaziabd Nights.

Rameez Raja received the man of the match award three times during the entire competition.

Khelo-India scheme in collaboration with Kupwara Sports Society was earlier inaugurated in Kupwara by District Administration in collaboration with Youth Service & Sports kupwara

Approximately, 208 teams in cricket, 156 teams in volley ball participated in 13 zones of the District with 16 teams in cricket and 12 teams in volley ball at zonal level.

The cricket tournament has completed its first round in zone Langate of Kupwara.

Sports officer kupwara said that Khelo-India competitions are being conducted not only to promote sports at grass-root level but also to help create sports infrastructure in the state.

A large number of youngsters from different villages of Kupwara are taking part in the tournament.

The tournament is being played with the underlying theme of ‘Sports for Peace and Development’ under Khelo India scheme.
