Budgam/Baramulla, Sep 25: For the upcoming municipal polls in the state, a total of 30 candidates have filled their nomination papers in the three municipal committees of Budgam district, which will go for polls on October 8 in the first phase.

Sources informed ‘Kashmir Images’ that at least seven candidates turned up in the Khansahib municipal area, in very late hours, while 12 candidates submitted their nomination papers in Budgam and 11 in Chadoora.

The last date for filling of nomination papers for the three municipal councils including Budgam, Chadoora and Khansahib was September 25, whereas forms were made available from September 18.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on September 26. The last date for withdrawing of candidature is September 28.

Pertinently, Budgam and Chadoora municipal committees have 13 wards each, while as Khansahib has 7 wards.

Among six municipal committees of Budgam district, the last date for submitting of nomination papers in municipal areas including Magam, Beerwah and Charar-e-Sharief is September 27.

Sources told ‘Kashmir Images’ that till date no candidate has filed nomination in Beerwah, while as seven candidates have submitted in Charar-e-Sharief.

Meanwhile, for 13 wards of Handwara, 29 nominations have been filed whileas for 13 wards of Kupwara, 45 nominations have been filed.

Sources said that in both Handawara and Kupwara, 26 Peoples Conference, headed by Sajad Gani Lone, candidates are in the fray.

Meanwhile, for 21 wards of Baramulla and 17 wards of Bandipora, 48 nominations have been filed.

Sources said that at least six candidates who filed their nominations in Baramulla, 6 are backed by PC.

One sole nomination was filed in Hamdaniya Colony Bemina ward of Srinagar. Sources said the candidate is backed by Peoples Conference.
