900 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Drugs seized at Lakhanpur

LAKHANPUR, SEPTEMBER 24: The Excise Department, Toll Post Lakhanpur alongwith Police foiled an attempt to smuggle 900 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup in the State, being transported in a vehicle bearing Registration No.HR37D-5980 in the garb of ‘Trade Goods and Cloth’.

The vehicle carrying contraband items (Drugs) has been seized by the Police Station Lakhanpur for further investigation/action under NDPS Act.

The whole operation was conducted by a joint team consisting of Excise Inspectors, Rajnishwar Sayal and Excise Guard, Abdul Majid Bhat under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer, Sandeep Gupta alongwith SHO Police Station, Lakhanpur Sushil Sharma.

The Excise Commissioner, J&K Government, Mr.Talat Parvez Rohella appreciated the efforts of Excise and Police Staff for the important catch and enjoined them to work with more zeal and in coordination with other departmental agencies and also complimented Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, Ashish Kumar Gupta and his team for the achievements.

In this regard, a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act, stands registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and the investigation is going on.
