Sopore, Sep 23: Unknown gunmen abducted a 45-year-old man from Sopore area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Saturday night, police said Sunday.

According to sources, on Saturday late evening masked gunman barged inside the house of a labourer Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Rasool Mir, at Harwan Sopore and asked him to come with them for few minutes as they need to talk over some important issue with him.

Sources further said that they promised his wife Habla Begum that Mir will be released soon and asked her not to cry or inform anyone.

Senior Superintend of Police Sopore Javaid Iqbal told ‘Kashmir Images’ that manhunt has been launched in the adjacent villages of Harwan. “Not only security forces are searching for him but locals are also helping us, let’s hope he will reach home safely,” he added

Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Bomai, Zia ur Rehman said that Mir’s family on Sunday “registered a missing report with us following which we, along with Army and CRPF, launched massive searches in the area’.

“As per the family of Mir one person entered his house, while 3-4 persons remained outside to ensure the safety of their colleague. We have launched massive searches in adjacent areas in Tujar, Lathishat and other areas to locate him,” he added

When this report was being filed, Mushtaq was still missing and searches were on to find him.
