Bandipora: At-least five militants, believed to be foreigners, were killed during a 24-hour long gunbattle with government forces and police in Sumular area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said
According to reports, on thursday afternoon after the joint team of army’s 13RR, SOG and CRPF launched cordon and search operation at ShokBaba forest area which led to a fierce gunfight resulting in death of two militants whose bodies were recovered last night. Owing to darkness, forces had put the operation on halt and resumed it on Friday morning.

A police officer said the gunfight resumes this morning after the joint team of army, SOG and CRPF intensified the combing operation to trace out the hiding militants.

Speaking to Kashmir Images, SP Bandipora Zulfikar Azad said ,”Five suspected militants have been killed and all bodies have been recovered from the encounter site.”
