Srinagar September 19: The University of Kashmir has appointed Prof. Syed Muzaffar Ali Andrabi as Director South Campus, Anantnag.

A formal order to this effect was issued on Saturday.

Prof. Andrabi who was presently serving as Head, Department of Applied Sciences, Institute of Technology, University of Kashmir, Zakura Campus, has also served as Director University Science Instrumentation Centre.

A doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh  Prof Andrabi has a unique distinction of having taught in several departments of the University notably, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Environmental Science, Food Technology, Applied Sciences(IOT) and USIC.

Prof Andrabi has guided many research scholars and has published research papers in international journals of repute on topics as diverse as pharmaceutical analysis, organic pollutants analysis, metal ion pollution treatment, bioremediation, chromatography and nanotechnology.

Prof Andrabi has been working on many projects sanctioned by national funding agencies like UGC and SERB (DST) and is presently working on a project (as Principle Investigator) on spatial distribution of ground water quality in the Kashmir valley with special emphasis on heavy metal mapping, sanctioned by Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India.

Prof Andrabi has also worked on a UNP programme in Africa for a period of three and half years.

Prof Andrabi is Chairman/member of various important committees of the University.
