BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 14:  District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ sanitation campaign being launched nationwide on September 15, 2018.

The DDC was informed that during the fortnight campaign, cleanliness programmes, awareness generation regarding Swachhta, drawing and painting competitions shall be organized to highlight the need for cleanliness in collaboration with higher education/school education departments and SHGs of UMEED.

Under the campaign, BDOs of the district shall also function as chief organizers in their respective blocks.

The said campaign shall be conducted at district, block and panchayat levels simultaneously and shall culminate on October 2 coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.

A major focus of the campaign shall be on cleaning of water bodies, parks, roads, schools, hospitals and colleges.

The DDC instructed all officers that the focus should be given to mobilizing locals through community participation in the cleanliness drives, besides generating mass awareness through media.

She also directed all BDOs to identify landfill sites for the garbage disposal in all villages of the district.

Similarly, Principal GDCs, ZEOs and Principals HSSs were also directed to emphasize on the issue of cleanliness during the morning assemblies and organize ‘Run for Cleanliness’, to instil awareness among the students and the general public on cleanliness.

The meeting was attended by SDMs, DPO Budgam, Principals of GDCs, BDOs, ZEOs, Principals of HSSs and other concerned.
