Cluster University Srinagar Professors XI crushes Journalism Dept to lift title

Srinagar, September 10: The final match of Professors Special T20 Cup was played between Professors XI and Journalism Dept. Batting first, Journalism Dept Scored 94 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 16 overs.

With 41 runs, Shakeel Ahmad was top scorer, Burhan scored 11, Professor Bilal and Dr. Rouf took 2 wickets each.

At one stage Journalism Dept was 66 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and then Dr. Rouf bowled an excellent spell, with figures of 3 overs and 9 runs, and took 2 important wickets. Bilal Nishati also bowled excellently as he gave only 9 runs in his 4 overs and took 1 wicket.

In reply, Professors XI suffered a blow in the very first ball of their inning as their opener got run out and then Numan of Journalism Dept took 2 wickets in 2 consecutive balls.

Skipper Dr. Rouf Ur Rafiq came to defend the Hat-trick and build a partnership of 36 runs with Professor Irshad.  Professor Bilal scored 19 runs unbeaten. Dr.Rouf scored 16 runs. After Dr. Roufs Departure, Professors XI suffered lost more wickets and then they needed 36 runs of 30 balls with 3 wickets in hand.

Professor Mudabir and Professor Bilal kept the score board ticking and the match reached a stage where 18 runs were needed of 13 balls. After Professor Mudabir’s departure, Professor Bilal guided his team home. He kept his cool and guided his team to a victory.

Professor Bilal (Education) was adjudged man of the match.

On this occasion, Professors XI chairman Professor Showkat Ahmad, Manager Professor Ali Mohammad, Secretary Professor Shajer, Spokesperson Professor Mudasir Congratulated the winning team.

The prizes were distributed by Professor Suhail Ahmad (HOD Journalism) and Physical Education Director, Mr. Mehta.
