Srinagar, Sep 09: Three militants from Bandipora were apprehended by Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar area of north Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara district, officials and reports said on Sunday.

Sources said that three persons were apprehended by 17 Bihar while infiltrating from Pakistan side at Seemari Teetwal yesterday late in the evening.

The arrested have been identified as Wakeel Ahmad Dar, Sajjad Ahmad Khawaja and Mohd Shafi Bhat, all residents of Bankoot Bandipora. Mobile phones, some Pakistani currency etc has been recovered from their possession.

As per reports the trio had crossed across last year from Gurez sector. They have been handed over to police Kupwara. FIR 69/2018 U/S 2/3 IMCO has been lodged against them.

A police officer while confirming the incident said that after being apprehended, the soldiers handed over the trio to Police Station Karnah for further investigations.

During questioning, it has come to fore that the youth belong to Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits, the officer said.

“A case has been registered under FIR no. 69/2018 under section 2/3 E & IMCO and 13 ULA Act,” the official said.

He said that further investigations are underway.
