KAS officer among two die in Kolahoi glacier accident

Srinagar: A Kashmir Administrative service officer and one more person were killed and seven others injuries after a falling rock hit a trekking group near Kolahai glacier in Pahalgam late Friday evening.

Reports reaching here, late Friday evening, said that a group of nine persons including three ponny walas, were on a trek to mount Kolahai in Pahalgam where they met with an accident in which two of the group members and the others were injured, one among them seriously.

The deceased persons have been identified as Naveed Jeelani, an alumnus of NIT Srinagar and a Kashmir Administrative officer of 2015 batch and Adil Shah, a Btec graduate from Islamic University of Science and Techonology, Awantipora, presently with the alpine group, a trekking planner, operating from Srinagar. The others in the group have been identified as Arshid Major, Hazik Beigh, Tousa Baba and Abdul Majid Rather. Though the identification of the pony wallas was not confirmed, however some unconfirmed reports said that they belonged to Aru valley.
