Democracy and oppression can’t go together: Yasin Malik

Srinagar:  Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that claims of democracy and oppression against unarmed civilians and peaceful political resistance can never go side by side.

In a statement issued here today, Malik said that Jammu Kashmir is a state run by police might.

Malik said that killings, arrests, lootings and shootings cannot put a nation into submission which has resolved to fight for its freedom and dignity.

Meanwhile, JKLF activists and leaders toady staged a peaceful protest against continuing crackdowns, killings and spree of arrests, a party spokesman said in a statement

The statement said that JKLF leaders and activists along with people from different walks of life today gathered at Maisuma Lal Chowk and staged a peaceful protest.

“Holding placards in their hands and raising slogans in favor of martyrs and prisoners and against ongoing crackdowns, JKLF leaders and activists marched towards Lal Chowk and staged a peaceful sit-in near Budshah Chowk. This protest was organized at the call of joint resistance leadership,” said the statement.
