SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 05: On the instructions of Controller, Legal Metrology J&K, the field executives of Legal Metrology Department intensified the market checking in the Srinagar city and elsewhere in the districts Budgam. Baramulla etc on the eve of Muharram. The deptt booked 26 erring traders for violating the Legal Metrology laws.
The erring traders were found using non standard weights and measures, offering for sale of food packages without proper labeling; over-charging etc. The erring traders were penalized for the offences and an amount of Rs 38500/- were collected as fine. The erring traders include poultry dealers, vegetable/fruit sellers, bakers, etc.
