Teachers’ Day celebrated as Black Day in Kashmir

Baramulla: After five days sit-in protest by Jammu Kashmir Rehbar e Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) and the indefinite hunger strike by the Teachers Joint Action Committee, teachers community celebrates Teachers Day as Black Day to protest against callous attitude of the Government towards their genuine demands of
implementation of 7th Pay Commission and delinking of SSA/RMSA teachers.
Dressed in black clad, thousands of teachers under the banner of Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum   stage sit in protest at Sher-e-Kashmir Park demanding justice and hunger strike at Pratap Park continues by Teachers Joint Action Committee to press the demands.
“While teachers across country celebrate Teachers Day, in Jammu and Kashmir teachers are forced to come on roads sit on dust for their legitimate demands of salary and implementation of 7th pay commission,”said Chairman JKRETTF Farooq Ahmad Tantray.
He added teachers appointed by state government are being betrayed and discriminated for no fault of theirs.
” In appointment and regularisation  orders there is no mention of SSA teachers but we have in black and white designation as General Line Teachers they why this disparity, ‘he added.
Holding banners and play cards, the protesters are joined by hundreds of females teachers in the strong protest demonstrations.
