JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 01: The Department of Floriculture organized interactive meet cum Awareness programme for farmers of Machail and nearby villages. During the camp the Director Floriculture Jammu, Babila Rakwal interacted with farmers and aware them about different schemes meant for their welfare.
The Director said that every year lakhs of people visit Holy temple of Goddess Chandi, Machail during the summer months of July & August which provides local farmers a great opportunity to earn handsome income by cultivating marigold & other flowers by selling these to the visiting devotees.
The Director assured the farmers full support from the Department for successful cultivation of Flowers at Machail and nearby villages.
Assistant Floriculture Officer Kishtwar, Arjun Singh Parihar also made the farmers aware about cultivation practices of marigold and incentives being provided by the Department under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
The farmers urged the Department to arrange exposure tours to enable them to learn about the commercial floriculture activities in various parts of the country.
