Samba: LMD books 5 gas agencies for violating norms, charges Rs 50000 fine

SAMBA, AUGUST 31: Legal Metrology Department has booked five gas agencies and charged Rs fifty thousand fine from the owners for violating various rules.

Acting on complaints received through District Administration, LMD inspected all Gas Agencies in the District and found some dealers charging over and above the prescribed cost for domestic LPG cylinder, cause sale without weighing cylinder and using unverified Weighing scales etc.

In view of discrepancies, the LMD team booked five   LPG dealers under relevant law. The defaulters   confessed their guilt and pleaded before the Legal Metrology Department for compositing of their case at Departmental level. Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, after assurances of not repeating the offences from the defaulting traders, compounded the cases and slapped a fine of Rs fifty thousand on them.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Controller appealed to the Consumers to approach to his office for redressal of their grievances regarding unfair trade practices adopted by any trader.
