Srinagar, August 28: Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) Tuesday held protest in old city demanding ‘dismissal’ of the petition challenging constitutional validity of state subject law.

The protest was held as part of already issued program vis-à-vis challenging Article 35-A in Supreme Court by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Carrying banners and placards in their hands, the protesting traders amid sloganeering took out a protest rally from Aali Masjid against plans to scrap state subject law.

They said any move which goes against the interests of the people will put entire Kashmir on fire.

“We have gathered here on the call of JRL, we will continue our protest until the petition challenging Article 35-A is dismissed. We will spill our blood but will not compromise with our identity and therefore appeal Supreme Court of India not to defer the case on next date but dismiss it once for all,” Nazir Ahmad a trader said.

“In past Supreme Court twice dismissed petitions challenging this Act after centre filed counter affidavit to defend it. The present BJP led government seems to be adamant on scrapping it. Incase Article 35-A was scrapped it will also scrap temporary accession of the state with Union of India,” he added
