Srinagar, Aug 25: An army soldier was killed and another injured in separate landmine explosions near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.

Quoting a police officer, GNS news agency reported that that the troops of Army’s 5/9GR were on a routine patrol duty in Gogal Dar area when the blasts took place late last night.

“In the incident, one soldier Abishekh Chhetri sustained multiple splinter injuries and was taken to 168 military hospital Drugmulla for treatment,” he said.

Another landmine blast took place near Balbir Post along LoC in Keran in which rifleman Nihal Gurang of 5/9 GR suffered critical injuries and was taken to nearby medical facility of army wherefrom he was airlifted to 92 Base Hospital at Badamibagh in Srinagar, where  he succumbed, the officer said.
