Launch intensive drive against profiteers, hoarders, black-marketeers: Div Com to DCs

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 18: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed all Deputy Commissioners to start a crackdown against black marketers, profiteers and hoarders across the valley including Leh and Kargil and arrest all traders immediately who are found indulging in such illegal practice.

The Divisional Commissioner issued these directions while reviewing the arrangements put in place for smooth celebrations of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival across the Kashmir division including Leh and Kargil districts.

All Deputy Commissioners presented a detailed report at the meeting regarding the necessary arrangements made for Eid-ul-Zuha celebrations in their respective districts.

The Divisional Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to start intense crackdown against black marketers, profiteers and hoarders and arrest them immediately. Check food safety norms in bakery, meat, poultry, fish and other items and seal those shops and establishments who violate the norms and arrest their owners immediately, the Div Com directed.

The Deputy Commissioners were also directed to keep the sacrificial animals available to the public at government approved rates and violators should be dealt strictly as per the law.

Khan directed Animal and Sheep Husbandry department to send doctors to places where sacrificial animals are available to the public and examine the health conditions of Sheep, Goats and Poultry birds.

Directing the concerned for providing adequate potable water, uninterrupted electricity supply, 24×7 health facilities, ration, LPG and transport facilities to the people, the Divisional Commissioner also asked the concerned for maintaining proper sanitation around the Mosques and Eid Gahs during the festival of Eid-ul-Azha.

Khan asked Police to keep strict vigil on Gambling practices. Pay surprise visits and raid those venues to arrest all gamblers and put them behind bars under relevant section of the Law, he said.

He asked for maintaining better coordination among the concerned departments and other concerned agencies for smooth and successful conduct of Eid-ul-Zuha festival.

DIG SRK, V K Birdi,District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, District Development Commissioner Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, , RTO Kashmir, Chief Engineer PHE, GM JKSRTC, SSP Traffic, Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services, Superintending Engineers of PHE, PDD, Joint Commissioner SMC, Chief Medical Officer, Joint Director Information Department and other concerned officers were present in the meeting whereas all DCs from other districts participated the meeting through video conferencing.
