Dr Samoon reviews functioning of JKMPCL

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 14: Principal Secretary, Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Jammu Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL).

During the meeting, Dr Samoon was informed by the CEO, JKMPCL started in the year 2004 as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between J&K Government and Amul dairy cooperative with two processing plants at Cheshmashahi, Srinagar and Satwari, Jammu.

CEO informed the Principal Secretary that JKMPCL as on date has a Farmer base of 16000 milk producer members associated through 450 village Dairy Co-operative Societies. JKMPCL in 2017-18 registered a turnover of Rs 52.37 cr with total milk and curd sale of 128 lakh litres.

It was given out that JKMPCL shares its market presence through Pouch Milk, Curd and Ghee under the Brand name ‘Snow Cap’ in Jammu and Srinagar city.

During the meeting various issues including the issues faced by Varmul Milk/Dairy Co-Operative Society Federation Ltd. Baramulla for establishment of dairy plants and the commissioning of bulk milk cooler at Kralpora, Kupwara were discussed threadbare.

Later, Dr Samoon also discussed issues raised by the officers of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department and public representatives of district Baramulla and district Kupwara.

The meeting was attended by Registrar Cooperatives, DGM NABARD, Lead Bank Manager/Manager JK Bank, Representative of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, CEO, JKMPCL, Director AHK. Public representatives of district Baramulla and district Kupwara also attended the meeting.
