Treasuries shut in Baramulla, striking employees stage protest

Baramulla: Employees working in Government Treasuries and Accounts observed one-day strike and staged protest demonstration in the premises of the office of District Treasury Officer demanding resolution of their long pending demands on Monday in Baramulla.

The protest was organized under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Accounts Employees Association.

The main demands of the fraternity are  – de-linking of KAS from accounts service, maintenance of 50:50 promotion quota at all levels, restoration of pay parity with Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Career Assured Progress Scheme for accounts Personnel, Cadre Review, increasing the quota of selection scale to reducing the qualifying service to 07 years in favour of Accounts officers (Rank & file), advance increment for qualifying SAC l & SAC ll, relaxation of qualification bar in respect of the compassionate appointees under SRO 43, amendments in SRO 78.

The protesting employees said that in the back drop of recent development under which most of the demands of other category of employees of the state have been already acceded to. the demands of Accounts personnel have once again been left out. “There is hence a genuine cause of concern for accounts fraternity to feel further aggrieved and alienated,” they said.

“This one day strike by J&K Account’s Employees Association seeks attention of the authorities to address their demands at an earliest otherwise accounts fraternity has no other option but to proceed on strike. If there is no headway made towards fulfilling demands of the cadre the programme of agitation will follow,” said protesting employees.
