August 03: Srinagar police solved a scooty lifting case within 24 hours and arrested the accused involved in the crime.

Police Station Maisuma received information that a scooty bearing chassis number MEISED194J0099839 and Engine No E3Y4EO199643 was stolen by some unknown person/ persons from Kokerbazar. On receipt of this information, a case FIR number 21/18 under section 379 RPC was registered in Police Station Maisuma and investigation was started, a statement issued by police said.

During the course of investigation, CCTV footage and cooperation of general public, led to the arrest of accused person identified as Haroon Ahmad Dar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar resident of Saidapora Sopore. The stolen scooty was also recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, Srinagar police arrested two bootleggers and recovered illicit liquor from their possession during a naka checking at Budshah Bridge.

The statement said that during naka checking at Budshah Bridge, police party of Police Station Maisuma intercepted a Sumo bearing number JK01L/2060. On checking the vehicle 11 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered form the possession of Ishfaq Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Shaban Dar resident of Reban Sopore and Fasil Nazir Malik son of Nazir Ahmad Malik resident of Nasoo Bandipora.

A case FIR number 23/2018 under section 50 Excise Act has been registered in Police Station Maisuma and investigation has been taken up.
