Jammu: The Chief of Army’s Northern Command, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, visited the forward areas and the hinterland in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district today and reviewed the security situation along the border with Pakistan.

He, accompanied by White Knight Corps Commander Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, paid a visit to the Counter Insurgency Force – Romeo at Maniyarwala to review its op-preparedness, a Defence spokesperson said here.

The General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force – Romeo, briefed the Army Commander on the prevailing security situation, he said.

The Army Commander also visited forward posts where he was briefed in detail on actions being undertaken to ensure a robust counter-terrorist grid, the spokesperson said, adding that Lt Gen Ranbir Singh interacted with soldiers and exhorted them to remain vigilant.

He also visited the Nagrota military station, where he was updated by the White Knight Corps Commander on the prevailing security situation and the arrangements made for Amarnath Yatra in view of the recent threats by the terrorist groups, he said.
