Srinagar, Aug 3: An army soldier who was injured in the gunfight at Drusoo village of Watergam in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today morning, succumbed to injuries in military hospital here.

An army officer told GNS that the soldier Sepoy Vijay Kumar of army’s 22 RR suffered serious bullet wounds in his head.

“One more army soldier Sepoy Ranjeet and a policeman Irfan Ahmad Wani also sustained injuries in the operation”.

All the three injured were evacuated to nearby hospital where from they have been shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar where Ranjeet succumbed to injuries, the army officer said.

Earlier, two militants have been killed in the encounter which broke out last night after the joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in Drusoo village of Bharampora, Watergam.

The slain militants were identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Akbar of Naseerabad, Sopore and Khursheed Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Nabi Malik of Arabal Nikas, Pulwama.

Khursheed was pursuing B. Tech from a college in Katra district in Jammu region had gone missing since Tuesday morning while as Reyaz had joined the militant ranks on July 18. (GNS)
