DFCO holds sensitization workshop in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 02: In order to streamline regulatory procedures across the State, the Drug & Food Control, Organization (DFCO) J&K, held a sensitization workshop at Srinagar on August 02, 2018 for adopting XLN Software for online Licensing System.

The Software for the said purpose is developed and maintained by NIC Gujarat and the features of the software include an Automated, Transparent, accountable and conducive environment by streamlining the functioning of services rendered by this organization under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules. The dissemination of Information with respect to the quality issues related to Drug Samples by the Inspectorate staff across the country. The software will also reduce the time span in licensing procedures.

An online interface for uploading documents without any need of physical touch point and downloading Final Certificate from Online Web Portal are also the part of the software for the purpose.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary to Government, H&ME Department. While speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner expressed hope that the statutory authorities performing various duties under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules there under shall work towards removing gaps in the existing regulatory mechanism. He further impressed upon the enforcement staff to utilize the in-built information with respect to impersonation, further use of NSQ drugs declared so across the country and mapping of establishments to restore confidence among end users of medicines.

The Controller, Drug and Food Control Organization J&K, Lotika Khajuria also expressed hope that the enforcement staff shall be able to devote more time towards their regulatory duties as the existing licensing procedures consume most of their time. Sr. Technical Director NIC Gujarat who conducted the workshop explained its merit and success across the 17 States.

Commissioner Food Safety J&K who was present in the workshop commented that the adoption of this module shall go a long way to further enhance the credibility of regulatory institutions.

The J&K as of now has 6397 wholesale establishments and 14093 retail sale pharmacies. The Stakeholders shall get immensely benefited by adopting this software as the same shall exempt them from avoidable procedural hassles. The incharge Deputy Drugs Controller, Kashmir Division, Drug Analyst Kashmir and senior Officers attended the workshop.
