LMD conducts market checking in Gurez

SRINAGAR, JULY 28:  The field executives of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Srinagar in coordination with the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Bandipora conducted a three-day visit of Baqtoor, Gurez and Tulail under the supervision of Joint Controller Kashmir Amar Singh.

During the visit, markets of Gulshanpora-Baqtoor, Rufuji-pora, Izz-Marg, Kanzalwan, Dawar, BurnoiBudugam, Malngam,Husungam, Sheikhpora, Baduaabetc were inspected. Around 20 erring traders were booked for violation of Legal Metrology Laws.

The nature of offences found was short-weighments, over-charging, use of unverified commercial weights and measures, offering for sale packaged commodities of edible oils, spices, dry-fruits without adequate labelling.

The erring traders were penalized and a penal sum of about Rs 20,000 was collected.
