I-Day arrangements finalized at Kupwara

KUPWARA, JULY 27: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today chaired a meeting to finalized arrangements for Independence Day celebrations in the district.

Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Kupwara & Handwara, ADC Handwara, ACD, SDMs of Karnah, Lolab, officers from Army, CRPF, CEO, CMO, CPO, DIO, AD FCS&CA, AD F&ES, Principals of various colleges, officers from various engineering wings, Tehsildars, BDOs and other concerned.

It was given out that the main function of the Day shall be held at DPL Kupwara while as similar functions will be held at sub-division levels in Handwara and Tangdhar.

The meeting was informed that ten contingents from JKP, IRP, CRPF (98 & 162 Btn.), Home Guards, Youth Services and Sports, students of various educational institutions will participate in the march past parade followed by Cultural programme featuring various colourful items. The DC suggested cultural performances based on patriotic themes and diverse culture of the district.

The DC directed all the district heads to ensure the participation of their respective staff in the Independence Day function.

Decoration of the main venue, rostrum/dias, seating arrangements, uninterrupted power supply, illumination, drinking water tanker service, barricading of venue, medical aid camp, availability of ambulance, deployment of fire tenders, transportation facilities, invitations, media gallery for coverage of the event by media fraternity, cleanliness, sanitation measures, distribution of prizes, were discussed threadbare in the meeting, while as special emphasis was laid on refreshments, transportation, mobile toilets and change room facilities for participants.

The DC impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure assigned arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth celebrations of the national day. He stressed on maintaining close coordination among different departments for timely completion of arrangements.

Later, DC visited the main venue of the function along with concerned officers and issued on spot directions for making necessary arrangements for smooth celebration of Independence Day 2018.
