No compromise on providing safe drinking water to people: Farooq Shah

SRINAGAR, JULY 25: To access the damage caused due to recent cloudburst, Secretary PHE and I&FC Farooq Ahmad Shah today visited 19 MGD filtration plant at Nishat here.

During the visit, the Secretary said that there will be no compromise in providing safe drinking water to the general public. He stressed upon all the concerned to work with dedication and make sure to provide safe drinking water to the people.

While inspecting the various units of the filtration plant, Secretary directed the concerned officers to ensure cleanliness in and around the filtration plant.

The Secretary also visited the laboratory in the filtration plant and directed the concerned staff to ensure proper testing of the water samples and conduct the tests according to the standard procedures to ensure safe drinking water to the people.

Earlier, Shah also visited Dal Bund Lift station and took stock of its functioning. Later, he visited Dachigam Naala at Harwan and directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps to repair the breaches in the embankments of the Naala including WangathTelbal.

The Secretary also visited water conservation reservoir at Harwan and took stock of the ongoing work on it. He directed the officers to ensure the completion of the water reservoir by the end of this fiscal.

Pertinently, the project has been taken with an expenditure of Rs 9.65 crore, of which 4.28 crore have been spent so far.

SE Hydraulic Circle Srinagar B.L. Bhardwaj, Executive Engineer PHE Ajaz Ahmad Qureshi, Executive Officer Irrigation and Flood Control Ghulam Rasool Shah and other concerned accompanied the Secretary during the visit.
