The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tehsildars, SE R&B, SE I&FC, District Mineral Officer, BDO’s, officers from the Municipal Corporation, Revenue Department and other concerned Departments.

DDC directed the officials to get the comprehensive mapping relating to state, forest and panchayat land and sought complete detail of encroachments in the district especially along National highway and circular road Pulwama.  He directed the officials to make full use of available technologies such as geotagging and satellite mapping to prepare a fully verified database.

DDC said that District administration has already initiated action against the offenders who have raised illegal constructions and encroachments in the town along roadsides and particularly on state and Kahcharailand.

While taking note of encroachments over State Land, Kahcharai and along road sides in the District Development Commissioner Pulwama directed Tehsildars and other concerned officials to personally monitor the matter and take immediate steps for retrieval by demolishing the illegal construction raised and ensure strict action against encroachers and submit Action Taken Report before him.

DDC further said that there will be a complete blanket ban on illegal, uncontrolled and unscientific extraction of sand, gravel and boulders from river Jhelum and other nallahs in the District. He said people are seen extracting the sand alongside the river Jhelum and other nallahs and no action has been taken so far.

DDC exhorted upon the officers that miscreants should be dealt stringently as per law and FIR should be lodged against illegal sand, gravel and boulder extractors and their machinery should be seized to prevent and safeguard the embankments of Jhelum and other nallahs.
