DC Shopian reviews Independence Day arrangements

SHOPIAN, JULY 25: – Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Owais Ahmed reviewed the arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day 2018 here today at Mini secretariat Arhama Shopian.

During the meeting, it was decided that the main function of Independence Day will be held at District Police Lines Shopian, where the VIP shall unfurl the National Flag and take the salute at March Past and other programs.

On the occasion, threadbare discussions were held including arrangements of seating, illumination of buildings on the eve of Independence Day Celebration, barricading, PAS, for VIP speech, availability of fire tenders.

The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements related to security, sanitation, seating, barricading, water supply, power supply, prize distribution, invitation cards, transportation and illumination of important buildings on Independence Day.

Regarding the presentation of the cultural program, the DC directed the heads of government and private schools/ colleges to prepare a cultural program with innovative ideas based on patriotic and cultural themes.

The DC also constituted various committees for different activities and exhorted upon them to start the preparations well in advance so that the festival is celebrated with traditional fervor.

ADC Shopian, Parvaiz Sajad was designated as Nodal Officer for monitoring all the necessary arrangements regarding the Independence Day celebration. DC exhorted upon the concerned agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for the smooth and successful celebration of the National event. It was decided that as per past practice the Independence Day celebration shall start with the playing Shania- Vadan.

The meeting was given out that various contingents of Govt armed belt including J&K Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Services Forest Protection Force, NCC Cadets, SDRF and students from various govt and private Educational institutions are participating in the March Past.

The DDC Directed PDD & PHE for uninterrupted Power and drinking water supply in the district as well at the venue. He also directed the health department to deploy an adequate number of medical camp at the venue.

It was given out that a variety of colourful cultural programs will be presented by the students of various educational institutions. The meeting decided that various programs to be presented on the occasion will be selected by the screening committee already constituted.

The meeting took various decisions to further upgrade the arrangements of the Independence Day.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Parvaiz Sajad Ganie, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zainapora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, RDD, all tehsildars and other district and sectoral officers of the district were present in the meeting.
